A Cheap Political StuntA Cheap Political Stunt

Libertarian Party of New Hampshire Presidential candidate George Phillies today decried the Bob Barr Lawsuit against Secretary of State William Gardner as a 'cheap political stunt'.  The suit seeks to remove Phillies from the November General Election ballot.

The initial suit was filed in mid-September; Secretary Gardner was not served with notice of the suit until October 3.  "It's too late," Phillies said.  "Ballots are already been printed and distributed.  Barr is trying to frustrate the will of New Hampshire Libertarians. The Libertarian State Convention chose me as their nominee in Spring 2007.  Barr's New Hampshire cronies waited through the next Libertarian State Convention, the petitioning period, and most of the general election campaign before suing."  Phillies noted that there is considerable evidence that the suit is actually being funded by a D.C. Libertarian group, not by any of the plaintiffs.

"I'm extremely grateful to Libertarian U.S. Senate candidate Ken Blevens, who yesterday filed an amicus brief opposing the suit," Phillies said. "I'm equally grateful to the large number of Libertarians around the state who expressed to me their gratitude that I am on the ballot."

Kudos to the Nashua Telegraph and their Staff Writer Andrew Wolfe for recognizing that the suit had been filed and posting its PDF!

Candidate Phillies, despite obviously being an interested party to the suit, has not yet been served.
